Congratulations on starting your bellydance journey! This two hour standalone workshop is your starting point to learn the essentials you need to join any Beginner or Open-level class.
This workshop is perfect for women who have never danced before. It's also good for dancers experienced in other styles wanting to start bellydance.
A workshop is run on the Monday evening before the start of every term. Here are the dates for 2020:

During the workshop, you will learn the essentials for bellydance so you can start weekly classes with confidence. These include:
- safe dance practices to care for your body
- a short routine to increase your flexibility and protect your joints
- how to control your body's natural movements to feel like a dancer
- using your hands, arms and feet in dance
WHAT TO WEAR
It's best to wear comfortable pants and a top, like yoga pants and a tshirt (you don't have to bare your belly unless you want to!). We dance barefoot or you can wear soft shoes, like jiffies. I'll provide any bellydancing equipment you need.
You should also bring a water bottle, or you can buy water at the studio for $2.
When you enrol, I'll send you a confirmation email. I'll also add you to my mailing list so you get reminders and updates.
There is no need to pre-pay for the workshop. Please bring $20 cash to pay at the door, or I can send you bank details if you prefer to direct deposit.
