Welcome to Open-level Technique. This is a weekly class dedicated to building and strengthening your bellydance skills.
This class is suited to women who have a little or a lot of bellydance experience. If you've never danced before, or are transferring from another style, I recommend you do the Beginners Workshop first to learn the essentials for bellydance.
This class runs on Monday evenings in 8 week terms. Here are the dates for 2020:
Feb 10, 17 & 24
Mar 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
May 11, 18 & 25
Jun 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29
Aug 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31
Sep 7, 14 & 21
Nov 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
This class is segregated to allow dancers at every level to hone their required skill set. In each class:
- Beginners concentrate on fundamental movements and are given drilling exercises to start developing their muscle memory.
- Continuing Beginners review the fundamentals to refine their isolation technique and are given layering exercises to expand their repertoire of movements.
- Intermediate & Advanced dancers review fundamental and layering techniques and are given transition and stagecraft exercises to finesse their repertoire.
Each class finishes with an experimental session where we play with the different styles and props used in bellydance.
WHAT TO WEAR
It's best to wear comfortable pants and a top, like yoga pants and a tshirt (you don't have to bare your belly unless you want to!). We dance barefoot or you can wear soft shoes, like jiffies. I'll provide any bellydancing equipment you need but experienced dancers are welcome to bring their own equipment.
You should also bring a water bottle, or you can buy water at the studio for $2.
When you enrol, I'll send you a confirmation email. I'll also add you to my mailing list so you get reminders and updates.
There is no need to pre-pay for the term. Please bring $10 cash to pay at the door for each class you attend, or I can send you bank details if you prefer to direct deposit.
