Welcome to this very special project class. This weekly class is for bellydancers to prepare solo or duet pieces to perform at NEMEDA's Student Showcase in mid-October 2020.
This class is for dancers who have at least 1 year of bellydance experience. If you're a newer dancer, I recommend you do the Open-level Technique class instead.
This class runs on Monday evenings in 8 week terms. Here are the dates for 2020:
Feb 10, 17 & 24
Mar 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
May 11, 18 & 25
Jun 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29
Aug 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31
Sep 7, 14 & 21
Nov 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
The project class runs over three terms to prepare for NEMEDA's Student Showcase:
- Term 1 focuses on choosing the elements for individual performance pieces. Every dancer will be guided on choosing their own music, style, costume and, if they like, prop. Dancers will be given homework to research material required for their piece.
- Term 2 is about building each dancer's individual performance piece. You will be guided on creating choreography and will be given exercises to strengthen your piece.
- Term 3 is dedicated to rehearsing and refining individual performance pieces, with the aim of increasing every dancer's confidence ready for the Showcase.
In Term 4, we'll learn a relaxed and quirky troupe choreography to match NEMEDA's 2020 Christmas Hafla theme.
WHAT TO WEAR
As experienced dancers, please wear your normal class wear and bring your own equipment (spares are always available to borrow). If you are using a specific prop for your performance piece, please bring it every week.
You should also bring a water bottle, or you can buy water at the studio for $2.
When you enrol, I'll send you a confirmation email. I'll also add you to my mailing list so you get reminders and updates.
There is no need to pre-pay for the term. Please bring $10 cash to pay at the door for each class you attend, or I can send you bank details if you prefer to direct deposit.
SPECIAL OFFER: dancers who do both Monday night classes (Open-level Technique and this Project class) get a $5 discount.
